ELFRIEDE PENNER (nee PETERS) September 20, 1911 - January 7, 2001 It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our dear mother Elfriede Penner at the Bethania Personal Care Home. Our mother was predeceased by her beloved husband Bruno in 1996 and her oldest grandson Harold Entz in 1997, also by her brother Heinrich in Germany and sister Grete in B.C. Mother was born in Krebsfelde, West Prussia Germany. After surviving the war, the family immigrated to Canada in 1951. Our parents were able to purchase a farm in Ste. Elizabeth, Manitoba and made it their home and a place for all of us to enjoy. This was for our mother a wish come true, and she enjoyed the farm life very much. Her family was her life. A year after the death of our father she moved to Winnipeg and resided in Kingsford Haus and Arlington Haus and finally was able to move to Bethania Care Home in July, 2000. There she received wonderful care from Dr. Doermer; also the nurses and staff. Thank you! To treasure her memory Mother leaves behind daughter Elfriede and Hans-Reinhard Entz, daughter Hannelore Wiebe, son Udo and Charlotte Penner, daughter Ursula and Ingo Zapp; thirteen grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and many relatives and friends in Germany and Canada. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 10, at 11:00 a.m. at the North Kildonan Mennonite Church, Cheriton at Roch with interment at 3:00 p.m. in the Lichtenau Cemetery at Ste. Elizabeth. Viewing Tuesday January 9, from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Klassen Funeral Chapel, 1897 Henderson Highway and at the church prior to the service. If friends desire, donations may be made to Bethania Personal Care Home, 1045 Concordia Avenue, R2K 3S7, or to Faith and Life Communications (Frohe Botschaft) 200-600 Shaftsbury Blvd., R3P 2J1. Arrangements entrusted to Klassen Funeral Chapel, 338-0331.
